First 30 days

  1. Create your family account and add emergency contacts.
  2. Complete medical forms and bring a copy to the next meeting.
  3. Pick up the uniform pieces your unit requires (shirt, neckerchief, slide, handbook).
  4. Attend the next outing—day hike or service project—and introduce your family to the patrol leadership.
  5. Subscribe to the unit calendar and messaging channel.

Calendar & RSVP

  • Subscribe to the shared calendar (Google/Outlook/iCal).
  • RSVP to outings two weeks ahead so gear and drivers can be assigned.
  • Weather or venue changes are posted by 2 PM on meeting days.

Gear basics

  • Water bottle (named) and small notebook with pen/pencil.
  • Comfortable closed-toe shoes for all meetings and activities.
  • Layered clothing for outdoor meetings; bring a light jacket after sunset.
  • Day-hike kit: small pack, rain shell, headlamp, snack, personal first aid items.

Fees

  • Annual registration and insurance: $90 per youth (prorated if joining midyear).
  • Unit dues: $5 per month, billed quarterly.
  • Typical outing costs: $10–$25 for day activities; overnights vary by venue.
  • Financial assistance is available—talk to the treasurer in confidence.

Communication

  • Email: announcements and permission slips come from your unit's announcement list.
  • Text/Chat: quick updates and carpools are posted in your unit's messaging channel.
  • Website: event details, packing lists, and forms live at troopmanager.com (log in to view your unit).

Safety notes

  • Two-deep leadership is required for all activities; no one-on-one contact.
  • Report any safety concern to the Unit Leader immediately (in person or by phone).
  • Transportation: seat belts for every rider; no youth driving other youth without prior approval.

Blue & Gold night packing

  • Blue and Gold night: Class A/field uniform (if owned), or solid polo/button-down.
  • Bring a parent/guardian—family celebration night.
  • Optional: dessert to share (nut-safe) if your unit does potluck style.
